From what I can find, it looks like it’s called Platenengrun. I came across this during a delivery, made me do a double take. I’ve only ever seen a similar colour on an super faded E21 before, never on an E30. The internet also doesn’t have many, so here’s a mostly identical car, but euro.

Upon further googling, it could also be Smaragdgrun. Difficult to tell, but I still think it’s planetengrun

There aren’t enough E30s in understated colours

Love that color, similar to tazman green, 1 year only color on the 5

Oh wow I've never seen that. It's lovely, too bad all the new 5 series I see are lease models in black, silver, or grey

When I had my e30 it was supposed to have been originally a color similar to that. But by the time I got it it had been painted red with black “stripes"

I think it’s more likely to be Smaragdgrün, since it seems to be too green-ish to be either Platanengrün or Opalgrün, which are respectively a bit grayer and much grayer. But anyhow, 80s BMWs indeed look great in grey, grey-ish green or grey-ish blue.

Did you leave a note with your number asking if it was for sale?
I’d love to get me a rust free E30 from out west and bring it back to Ontario.

Such a nice colour; manages to be different from the sea of greys, silvers and blacks, but still be subtle and understated. That shade of lightish metallic green also manages to work on nearly all European cars from the 80's (there’s way more examples I haven’t put here)

I'm afraid I didn't :/ it was also just a 325e, you may as well get one with a good engine if you're going to that trouble

That's a good point, I didn't do much looking for different examples so you're probably right

That's disappointing....I don't know why people do things like that

Well, I only knew how Smaragdgrün looked, so I had to google the rest of the greens too

I’ve owned and worked on enough E30's to know that all that matters is the body. If the body is good, then it’s a good E30 lol. I’ve got a spare 325i motor and 3.73 diff sitting in the shed anyway ;)

That's a fair point, most people aren't that happy to swap motors but if you are, then you're golden. That one did look like it had a solid body, but I didn't look too closely at the rockers or anything
